Film Screening - Mariupol: Survivors
"Mariupol: Survivors" is a compelling documentary feature that marks the directorial debut of artist Mariia Mykhno. This poignant film captures the essence of an unsettling refrain, where three resilient women at its core recount the horrors of war as though they still bear witness to its haunting presence.
Join us on Tuesday, March 11, for a powerful charity screening of Mariupol.Survivors, a deeply moving documentary that sheds light on the unimaginable horrors endured by civilians during the siege of Mariupol. Through the raw and courageous testimonies of three women, this film brings to life the devastating impact of war while amplifying the voices of those who have suffered the most.
Directed by artist Mariia Mykhno, Mariupol.Survivors is more than just a film—it is a call to action. It tells the true stories of Olga, Olena, and Mariia, three survivors whose lives were forever changed by the war. Their accounts paint a harrowing picture of loss, resilience, and survival.
• Olga, a mother of three, lost her husband when a Russian missile struck their home. She was captured but managed to escape, carrying the weight of grief and an ongoing search for her husband’s remains.
• Olena, a retired civil servant, risked everything to evacuate children from the war zone, only to lose contact with her own son amidst the chaos.
• Mariia, a young student, survived three near-death experiences, constantly fleeing as rockets targeted her city.
The documentary exposes the brutal reality of war: between 87,000 and 138,000 civilians are estimated to have been killed in Mariupol. With the city still under Russian occupation, families are unable to locate or bury their loved ones. This screening aims to raise awareness, support survivors, and provide aid to Ukraine’s defenders who fight for justice and liberation.
We invite you to stand with us, amplify these voices, and help Ukraine in its fight for justice and freedom.
